About This Position

The High School Student Intern at the CTE Innovation Center will gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of administrative duties, marketing, daily operations, and industry partnerships related to career and technical education. This internship provides an opportunity for the student to explore and contribute to the dynamic environment of a career-focused educational institution. Responsibilities: Assist Instructors: Collaborate with instructors in classroom settings to support the delivery of career and technology education courses. This may involve preparing materials, setting up equipment, and providing assistance to students during practical sessions. Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and maintaining organized records related to student progress, projects, and other center activities. Technology Support: Provide technical assistance in technology-related courses, including troubleshooting equipment, assisting students with software applications, and helping maintain technology resources. Workshop and Event Support: Contribute to the planning and execution of workshops, seminars, and events hosted by the Career and Technology Center. This may involve logistical support, promoting events, and assisting with participant engagement. Career Exploration: Engage in discussions with students about career pathways, sharing personal experiences and insights. Help organize and participate in career exploration activities to expose students to various professions. Project Assistance: Collaborate with students on hands-on projects and assignments, offering guidance and support to enhance their learning experience. Community Outreach: Assist in promoting the Career and Technology Center within the local community and schools. This may involve creating promotional materials, participating in outreach events, and engaging with prospective students. Professional Development: Attend relevant professional development sessions and meetings to broaden knowledge of career and technical education and enhance overall internship experience.

Helpful Skills & Coursework

'-Junior or Senior with a schedule that allows an internship between the hours of 8:30-4:00 (currently enrolled CTEIC students may apply)-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.-Basic understanding of technology and a willingness to learn new skills.-Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.-Eagerness to take on responsibilities and contribute to the success of the Career and Technology Center.

The CTE Innovation Center, located on the Roper Mountain Science Center campus, is a world-class facility created to house future-focused, innovative programs that have a growing presence in Greenville County. The Innovation Center is the first in the state to offer Emerging Automotive Research and one of few offering Aerospace Technology, Cybersecurity/Networking, Clean Energy Technology, and Automation and Robotics.The classrooms and labs are designed to allow students interested in these STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) career paths the opportunity to problem-solve and collaborate in a real-world setting using equipment that aligns with current industry standards.Each program aligns with post-secondary options in both two-year technical college and four-year university programs and will equip students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in both a post-secondary setting and the global workforce. Students in these programs will be able to pursue high-wage STEM careers such as engineering (aerospace, automotive, civil, mechanical, software), programming, aviation, design, information technology, research, solar power, analytics, development and technical solutions.
